HORNBY UPDATE

The 71000 Trust will be stocking and selling the new Hornby OO scale 71000 models.Stocks are now expected around the end of October 2013
 
The Trust price for the railroad model no R3168 is £67 +£5 delivery
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
The Trust price for the enhanced model no R3191 is £96 +£5 delivery
 


 
 
Hornby are also going to produce a 71000 train pack consisting of the enhanced locomotive version and three MK1 coaches
 
The Trust price for the train pack model no R3192 is £136 +£7 delivery
 
If anybody is interested is considering  purchasing any of the new Hornby models please register your interest with the Trust's Deputy Chairman Stuart Wright His email is

The Trust still has a small number of both locomotives and train packs not yet allocated although it is expected that the enhanced version will go sold out in the not too distant future

AUGUST SPECIAL OFFER
 
This month's special offer features our  DVD "The Record Breaker" Produced exclusively for the Trust by PSOV the UK's leading producer of contemporary main line steam action on DVD
 
 
This is a recent addition to the Trust's memorabilia range being commissioned by the Trust in early 2012.
 
The DVD features interviews with support crew with an explanation of how the British  Caprotti valve gear works,there is coverage from the footplate on the mainline showing realtime what a driver/fireman has to do. and there is superb coverage of 17 yes 17 mainline runs from Preston to Carlisle and return in September 2004 right though to September 2011 hauling the Torbay Express.

71000 Sales at The East Lancashire Railway
 
71000 sales will be at the East Lancashire Railway End of Steam Festival on 27/28 July 2013
 
 
The ELR are to provide a marquee for exhibitors. The marquee is to be situated at the end of the platform near to the Trackside bar.
 
In celebration of this weekend's event 71000 sales will have a comprehensive range of memorabilia for sale many at a much reduced price.
 
Of  special note is that the Trust will be exhibiting two pre production models of the NEW Hornby OO scale 71000 model locomotives.
 
Dubbed as the model that never would be made this is an opportunity for gala attendees to have a sneak preview of what is coming later in the year.
 
Hornby are to produce two  locomotive models and a train pack
 
Hornby product code R3168 is the railroad version of the locomotive

There will be the opportunity for visitors to the 71000 sales stand to "register their interest" in the Hornby items to ensure priority of supply.
 
Even though stock has not yet been released there is a general expectation that these items will go "sold out" very quickly
 
The Trust is also pleased to announce that  a large (29" x 20") Terence Cuneo framed print entitled "The Lickey Incline" will also be available for purchase
 
Painted in 1968 by Cuneo this lithographic print was published also in 1968 by Felix Rosentiel's Widow and Son Ltd and is rare example of their work

This framed print will be available at the special price of  £40.00 and will be sold to the first person to meet the asking price. We do have the facility once purchased to store until going home time.
 
An early attendance to the sales stand is therefore advised.
 
As a result of a timely donation to the Trust there will also be on sale a good selection of early steam magazines many going back to the 60's
 
We can't offer face painting for children but there will be one or two freebies for our younger steam lovers.

A spectacular photo taken at Conway in July 1990

On 22nd July 1990 71000 ran from Crewe to Llandudno Junction with a North Wales Coast Express On board that day were driver Bertie Edwards, fireman Keith Elliot and traction inspector Bill Andrews.
The train consisted of 14 coaches (489 tons) including the dynamometer car.
 
After the run Bill Andrews was to comment "71000 is 300% better now than in the 1950's. It was very hard graft when I worked on it then.The new Kylchap exhaust has altered all that. 71000 burns as much coal as before but now uses it to good effect and  is certainly more powerful"

July 2013 Brass 71000 Key Ring Offer
 
This month's special offer features our fantastic quality 71000 brass key ring.manufactured by renowned
 
UK supplier  R E Gomms of Birmingham.
 
 
Sturdy in manufacture it is 2.5" long by 0.75"wide. This key ring has been supplied by the Trust since the early 90's and we have had not one complaint regarding its quality during that period. Indeed when the sales team are at steam galas there are many occasions when visitors to the stand proudly show their Gomms key ring and exclaim "bought this in early 1990 and it is still going strong"
 

 
This key ring is normally sold at the Trust's online shop at £9.00 including postage and packing.

HORNBY AND THE NEW 71000 OO SCALE MODELS

Following recent discussion with Hornby Hobbies, the Trust is pleased to confirm that the new oo scale locomotives and train pack will be available to purchase, from the Trust's trading subsiduary Phoenix Heritage Rail, at discounted prices

It is hoped that the stock will be available sometime in September.

Hornby hobbies are to produce two locomotive models and a train pack.
Details as follows.

Product code R3168 is the railroad version of the locomotive.

Product code R3192 is a train pack consisting of product code R3191 together with three MK1 coaches specifically designed and produced to perfectly match the "Duke".

The special offer price for the train pack will be £136 plus £7 delivery charge.

71000 members who have already registered with the Trust for email communication have no need to register as they will receive their own communications.

Please remember that the Trust is a registered charity No 272784 and that ALL  proceeds received from the sale of these locomotives and train set will go towards the upkeep of 71000.
71000 is currently on display at The Crewe Heritage Centre.

CREWE HERITAGE CENTRE FREE ENTRY AN UPDATE
In addition to being able to offer FREE footplate access the Trust is pleased to confirm that the latest Hornby OO scale pre production 71000 models will also be on display near 71000 at the Heritage Centre on Saturday 20th April.
This will the first time that these models have been made available for the general public to view.
Unfortunately we will not be able to be to allow them to be handled as they have to go back to Hornby after the event!
