SALES AT THE CREWE HERITAGE CENTRE

A sales team was at the Heritage Centre on 5th October. As the stand was in the open, next to the loco, it was fortunate that the weather was dry and bright. The Centre had arranged for steps to be placed next to the loco for public footplate access and in turn 71000 support crew were available on the footplate to deal with any questions from visitors. There was a steady stream of visitors to our stand and much needed funds were raised to put towards the overhaul.

As previously mentioned former 71000 CME Keith Collier had placed in the auction a 71000 number plate. This was not an original plate from BR days but a replica from the early days of 71000 preservation.

Keith had kindly agreed to donate to the Trust half of what the plate achieved in the auction. The lot number of the plate was 300 and throughout the late morning support crew were continually popping in the the Centre to check when the plate was up for auction. It was however mid afternoon before a beaming Keith Collier and Trust deputy chairman Stuart Wright came bouncing down the pathway to announce that the plate had gone for £1,600!!

With a gift aid declaration the amount due to the Trust will be approximately £1,000.

The Trust is exceedingly grateful to Keith for his generous gesture.

71000 sales are again on their travels this coming weekend 12/13 October with a pitch at the Oxenhope exhibition shed for the steam gala at the Keighley and Worth Valley

Why not pop in to see us.
