         A SALES EXTRAVAGANZA!
For the first time 71000 sales will have two  teams "on the road" this coming  week end 5/6th October

First up is the very popular Railwayana Auction at the  Crewe Heritage Centre on the 5th October.

Of significance is lot no 300a.  A 71000 number plate placed in auction by former 71000 CME Keith Collier.
Please download the on-line auction catalogue to view further details.

Keith is very kindly going to donate 50% of the proceeds to the Trust. So we hope for a good result!
The Trust in conjunction with the Heritage Centre has arranged for steps to be placed next to 71000 for access to the footplate on the day.
It is also planned, subject to the weather, for a sales table to be next to the locomotive so that prospective bidders and visitors will be able to purchase a 71000 gift as a momento of their day at Crewe.
71000 support crew will also be on the footplate on this day and will be more than happy to answer any questions regarding the "Duke". We understand from the Heritage Centre that this is a FREE ENTRY event.
At the same time another sales team will be at the Great Central Railway's steam gala on the 5/6th of October.
Situated on the platform at Loughborough Station it will indeed be a pleasure to return to the "Duke's Spiritual Home" where all those years ago "The Impossible Dream" began.
Indeed it was on the 24th April 1974 that 71000 left Barry Island scrap yard via a low loader en-route to Loughborough where for the next 12 long years a remarkable restoration project would take place.  It was on 25th May 1986 that 71000 finally took a two coach test train from Ropley to Loughborough and the long wait was finally over. It you are planning to go the Great Central Steam Gala pop in at Loughborough station where the team will be pleased to see you. For anybody unable to attend any of this coming weekend's events 71000 memorabilia can be purchase via our on-line shop
The Trust still has a small quantity of the Hornby OO Scale 71000 models to be allocated.
Please see 71000 news of 8th September for anybody  interested in purchasing any of these models from the Trust please follow the instructions on how to register your interest. Any 71000 member wishing to register their interest should quote their membership number.
