The Duke and Duchess

Text reads: Above: The "Gloucester" at Euston. No. 71000 departs with the Mid Day Scot whilst No. 46225 Duchess of Gloucester awaits the rightaway with the 1.05pm service. No. 46225's fireman heads for his engine, carrying his billycan, watching the Duke's steamy departure. At least one small part of Duchess of Gloucester (scrapped by the West of Scotland Shipbreaking Company, Troon, in December 1964) survives today: the whistle was discovered fitted to an agricultural ploughing engine at Pilling, Lancashire in early 1990!
